The main intersection of Highway 80 (= Palm Beach Blvd.) and the road connecting it with Hwy. 78 on the north side of the Caloosahatchie River in Alva, Florida. The Handy Store on the N.E. corner is probably the busiest place in town. The intersection has only a yellow blinking light because it's simply not busy enough yet for a regular traffic light. This is a pretty quiet area!

The Caloosahatchie River is peaceful and easily navigable. Many fine homes border it in this area.

The Alva bridge opens for a minute or two when a tall boat passes. On the other side of the bridge in this view is our 'downtown', dominated by . . . . .

. . . . . our two side-by-side schools, Alva Elementary and Alva Middle and . . . . .
|
. . . . . the 'bustling' Alva Post Office. Notice all the oak trees, a trademark of the Alva area in general. Our other 'landmark' is . . . . .

. . . . . the Alva Country Diner - down home country cooking at its best! This is the only sit-down eating establishment in Alva; we're just not big enough to attract fast-food restaurants. You can find other restaurants starting about 7 miles away in Lehigh Acres or Riverdale.
